Design

The reverse presents a proud American bald eagle perched on an olive branch, with inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, and TEN DOLLARS.

About the Grade – MS 63

NGC MS 63 is a Choice Mint State designation — a coin with full original mint luster and no wear, with some scattered contact marks consistent with original mint handling. At this grade, the 1926 Indian Head Eagle displays vibrant golden surfaces and sharp, well-struck design details throughout.

About the 1926 Issue

The 1926 Philadelphia Indian Head Eagle is one of the last years of the series — production ceased in 1933 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102, requiring Americans to turn in their gold coins. As a result, many were melted, making surviving Mint State examples increasingly treasured. The 1926 issue had a mintage of 1,014,000 coins, but true gem-quality survivors are far scarcer than the original numbers suggest.

Owning this coin connects you to a pivotal era in American economic and political history — the final years of circulating U.S. gold coinage before it was recalled forever.

A bold and beautiful piece of American numismatic history — ideal for the serious gold collector or as a centerpiece display coin.
