Why This Coin Stands Out
The 1964 Washington Quarter holds a special place in American numismatic history — it was the final year the United States Mint produced 90% silver quarters for general circulation. Proof versions were struck with exceptional care using polished dies and planchets, resulting in the stunning cameo contrast between deeply mirrored fields and frosted portrait details that collectors prize so highly. A PF 67 designation confirms this specimen is nearly perfect, with only the slightest imperfections visible under magnification.
The Last of Its Kind
Owning a 1964 Proof Washington Quarter in PF 67 is owning a piece of the last chapter of America's silver coinage era. Beginning in 1965, the Mint transitioned to copper-nickel clad composition — making 1964 an iconic date for silver coin enthusiasts and type collectors alike.
